Offcity architekti: Karolína Jirkalová a Miroslav Pazdera

Architecture has experienced dynamic development in recent years, which is accompanied by a broad public discussion. This discussion mixes the voices of architects and architecture professionals, expert critiques, and the wider public. How is the current debate about architecture unfolding? Is there a critical reflection in the media and among experts, or are architects just patting each other on the back?
The next pair we will welcome as part of the series of discussion evenings OFFCITY ARCHITECTS in Pardubice consists of theorist Karolína Jirkalová and architect Miroslav Pazdera.
Karolína Jirkalová is an architectural historian, critic, and editor, and since 2007 she has been an internal editor for the magazine Art Antiques. In her research work, she focuses on the recent history of architecture in broad socio-political contexts. She has contributed to publications such as Architekti SIAL and Město mezi domy, and was an editor for the project Panelová sídliště in the Czech Republic as part of the urban living environment. She publishes in scientific and professional journals, teaches externally, and is involved in the popularization of the field.
Miroslav Pazdera has long been collaborating on the program at the Karlín gallery VI PER, which examines architecture from a variety of perspectives. Last year, he selected guests for the lecture series November Talks, which focused on unconventional and critical architecture education. Miroslav Pazdera co-leads a studio at the Faculty of Architecture at ČVUT with Ondřej Císler. He is the author of the book Ocelová města, which focuses on logistical centers on the peripheries and their social impact.
