Competitions

The subject of the competition is an urban conceptual design for the locality of Špitálka in Brno-Zábrdovice. The design will take the form of an urban study that defines the extent, form, and functional use of the area, including connections to surrounding locations, and will be developed for the entire addressed area according to the competition assignment (see document P01). The proposal will meet the requirements for a contemporary urban space encompassing residential functions, supplemented by additional functions and areas necessary in the context of the locality.
Given the significance of the locality and the need to address the entire area comprehensively, it builds on the addressed areas where connections should be proposed so that the entire locality functions as a whole.
The focus of the proposal is primarily on finding the optimal use of the given area with an emphasis on sustainable development, i.e., on maximizing possible energy efficiency and self-sufficiency, adaptability to climate change, and social resilience. In creating the urban concept, it is necessary to work with the shaping of buildings in terms of thermal losses, orientation towards cardinal points, considering the view of Brno, current and future noise burdens on the locality, all with the aim of ensuring a healthy living environment in the area.
