Třebíč - The renovation of the Třebíč swimming pool Polanka will cost 170 million crowns (excluding VAT). The work will be carried out by Metrostav DIZ s. r. o. The completion date is May 31, 2025. This information comes from the city's website. According to the spokesperson of the Třebíč town hall, Irini Martakidisová, construction work will begin next week.
"The entire area of the Polanka swimming pool is not in a dilapidated state, but it no longer meets the needs of this century. Mainly, there is no water heating. So, this will be new, that the water will be warmer. There will be more activities for families with children, especially for small children. The changing rooms will also be improved, and the food service will be enhanced so that it is a pleasant swimming pool for many more years," said Martakidisová.
Due to the lack of water heating, the swimming pool is only operational for two months a year. The average daily attendance is 400 to 800 people. Three-quarters of them are families with children, but only a smaller part of the water areas is designated for them. For this reason, the renovation will include a change to the large pool, which will be divided into a swimming section and a relaxation section with water features.
The swimming pool, which includes a 50-meter swimming pool, a non-swimmer pool, and a diving pool, was built in 1978. It was developed on an area of 2.7 hectares near the Jihlava River, where river spas existed since the early 20th century.
In 1994, part of the pool area was expanded with a waterslide. The diving pool with a five-meter tower was renovated by the town hall in 2019 for about six million crowns.
Part of the swimming pool complex also includes wooden two-story changing cabins designed by architect Bohuslav Fuchs, which are protected as cultural heritage. Since 1934, they have served the river spa. In 2016, their renovation began, costing about 12 million crowns and lasting until 2022.
