Třebíč - Třebíč has announced a tender for a company that will reconstruct the Polanka outdoor swimming pool. The estimated costs are 200 million crowns. Work on modernizing the area near the Jihlava River is scheduled to start in April next year. After the repairs, the city plans to open the swimming pool in June 2025. This was stated to reporters today by the mayor of Třebíč (For Třebíč) Pavel Pacal.

The builders will replace the pool, after the reconstruction there will be heated water at Polanka, improved facilities, new refreshment counters, and better facilities for families with children. "The pools will remain partly for swimming and there will also be water attractions, slides, or pools for the smallest children," said Pacal.

In addition to the reconstruction of the swimming pool, the city also wants to build a new footbridge across the river that leads to the area. It will replace the steel-wooden structure, which is already in an unsatisfactory condition. The city hall will seek a contractor for the new footbridge next year. "These two projects should then proceed in parallel so that when Polanka opens in June 2025, not only Polanka will be finished, but also the access footbridge," said Pacal.

The swimming pool features a 50-meter swimming pool, a diving tower, and a slide, and has been open for 45 years near the Jihlava River, in a location where river spas have existed since the early 20th century. The complex also includes wooden two-story changing cabins designed by architect Bohuslav Fuchs, which are protected as a historical monument. They served the river spas since 1934. In 2016, their gradual repair began, costing about 12 million crowns, and was completed last year.
