Entrance doors form a barrier between the interior space of the house and the outside environment. As such, they must fulfill several functions – primarily security, insulation, and aesthetics. We will explore how the TREND construction doors from the Progression profile series of Slavona address these requirements.

There are several elements of entrance doors that even a layperson can use to recognize their security. A good guide is the construction and locking system. In the case of TREND construction doors, safe closure is ensured by three bolts, with additional locking provided by a latch and retractable hooks. Besides preventing the removal or breaking of locked doors, the used system also has thermal and acoustic insulation functions – the door leaf fits well against the frame.

Progression TREND Doors are manufactured only in an inward-opening version, so the door hinges are not accessible from the outside and cannot be manipulated in any way. Standardly, the doors are equipped with fittings that prevent the drilling out of the locking cylinder and meet security class RC3, as well as locking cylinders in security class RC4, which successfully withstand the most commonly practiced techniques for overcoming them.

The security of entrance doors is also influenced by the materials from which the door leaf and frame are made, their thickness, resistance to mechanical or thermal damage, and the manner of installation into the wall. In the case of TREND doors, the leaf has a thickness of 92 mm and is made from a sandwich composite that is characterized by good strength and a high degree of thermal insulation. The frames of Progression doors are hidden under the facade on the exterior, thus they are protected from attempts to damage them.

The quality construction of TREND doors assumes that they will be exposed to various conditions in both the internal and external environments. While the indoor humidity and temperature are stable, the outdoor conditions constantly change due to the weather. Therefore, the outer side of the door leaf is protected by a color-stable surface finish that withstands UV radiation and other weather influences.

For the doors to serve well as a barrier between the external and internal environments, they must have good thermal insulation properties. The value of thermal transmittance for the doors, UD – the lower it is, the better the doors insulate. In the case of Progression TREND doors, this value is 0.67 W/m²K, which easily meets the requirements for passive houses.

Although we have so far discussed the security and thus the "barrier" quality of the doors, it is also important to mention their barrier-free design – Progression TREND doors have a low composite threshold that allows smooth access into the house for visitors with health disabilities, including those who need to use aids such as wheelchairs, etc.

Regarding the aesthetic aspect, it depends on both the type of building into which the doors are to be installed and the taste of the specific customer. Progression TREND doors, with their frame-free appearance, where the leaf forms a smooth surface sometimes complemented by partial glazing, are particularly suitable for modern, architecturally impressive homes.
