The Rigips technology for a comprehensive system of secured spaces using a dry construction system has won the Bronze Award from the Czech Construction Academy. The award was received at the headquarters of the Foundation for the Development of Architecture and Construction during the ceremonial announcement of the results of the Building Product - Technology of the Year 2008 competition, which was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of the Environment along with other co-organizers.
Rigips offers a comprehensive solution for secured spaces with a dry construction system not only in new buildings but also in renovations of buildings that are thus protected against burglary or violent intrusion. Entire secured spaces, such as apartments, offices, suites, sections of hotels, insurance companies, banks, etc., are created by combining security partitions, false walls, and false ceilings, with hybrid Duragips structures inside. The safety structures made of plasterboard or in combination with fiber-reinforced boards are designed and tested according to the ČSN P ENV 1627 standard, certified by an authorized testing laboratory, and classified into group BT3, i.e., for use in protected spaces. The Rigips security structures naturally meet the insurance conditions and are a fully-fledged and verified solution for the construction of these spaces.
The security plasterboard structures consist of standard system steel profiles and are clad with plasterboard panels. To ensure adequate security, 1 or 2 layers of galvanized steel sheet are added. Mineral insulation is placed in the cavities of the security structures, primarily ensuring optimal function in terms of acoustic insulation (e.g., the airborne sound insulation of partition SK14 /BT3/ number 3.40.05 B3 on the simple structure of CW profiles is Rw = 61 dB). Such a security partition, with a thickness of only 127 mm, is suitable as an inter-apartment partition not only in terms of security against unauthorized intrusion (insurability of the apartment) but also meets the prescribed requirements for sound insulation between neighboring apartments.
This structure has proven itself not only in measuring airborne sound insulation under laboratory conditions but has also demonstrably met specific measurements on completed buildings.
Duragips security partitions are created by combining plasterboard and fiber-reinforced boards in a shell with an added layer of steel sheet. The advantage is achieving higher resistance to impact loading than when using just plasterboard panels. This leads to a lower risk of puncture or mechanical damage in exposed areas. With relatively lower surface weight, the walls exhibit higher airborne sound insulation values than traditional masonry structures. These walls also have high bearing capacity, easier anchoring for suspended loads, and achieve fire resistance of up to 90 minutes. Duragips combined walls also address cases where investors, for various reasons, are bothered by the "hollow" sound when tapping the surface of conventional plasterboard structures, as they simply do not sound like that anymore.
The jury of the Building Product - Technology of the Year 2008 competition mainly evaluated the high technical level, user and ecological benefits, innovative approach, and use of products in construction projects. The Rigips technology for a comprehensive solution for secured spaces has fully met its technical and economic parameters:
low weight (49 – 66 kg/m²),
rapid construction progress (without wet processes),
system-certified solution (security class BT3),
minimal thickness (from 126 mm, i.e., increasing usable space of rooms),
fire resistance (EI 60 – EI 90),
high sound insulation values (standard value of 52 dB for inter-apartment partitions with a thickness of just 126 mm),
high local load-bearing capacity, easier anchoring, the possibility of suspending heavy loads (e.g., kitchen units),
possibility of creating a secured space within hall buildings,
