PREFA FX.12 and REYNOBOND for a structure with a futuristic facade

Near the Slovak capital Bratislava, an architectural project has emerged, whose façade combines three different materials. For the very first time, large-format and simultaneously the "youngest" element from the PREFA range, the timeless façade panel FX.12, was used in Slovakia.

In June 2012, architect Pavel Kosnáč began designing the new look of the façade of a family house in the village of Borinka, covering an area of 470 m2. “First, we completed the entire interior layout with high ceilings and open space. Subsequently, the investor commissioned us to design a new exterior shell for the building,” says architect Kosnáč.

Successful Combination of Materials
“Around the variously sized and large-format windows, we decided on a combination of multiple materials. Apart from classic plaster and cedar wood cladding in the entrance area, the predominant material used was the aluminum cladding panel FX.12 in the anthracite color P.10. Its use was determined by design, aesthetics, and maintenance-free characteristics,” specifies architect Kosnáč. Almost half of the total façade area was cladded with FX.12 material.



Playing with Colors
The necessary attention to detail and perfect craftsmanship during the installation of FX.12 is the work of the roofing company Šerfezi. Special trims had to be created before installing the façade and windows. A Venetian blind structure was installed at the windows of different sizes, whose total glass area amounts to 170 m2, which was fitted under the aluminum frame. Another unique product used here was the REYNOBOND façade panel, which was installed by the company Zinn s.r.o. The dominant colors used were anthracite, dark gray, and white, which together ensure perfect optical harmony of the whole object.

Regular Irregularity
The roof and façade panel FX.12, along with the REYNOBOND façade panels, have been among the most reliable and popular products in the PREFA Aluminiumprodukte portfolio for more than two years. “In addition to its long lifespan with a 40-year material warranty and maximum optical requirements, FX.12 continually impresses roofers with its easy and quick installation. Thanks to the standing angular groove on each panel, it can be attached directly to the lower structure using pre-prepared holes, without the need for fasteners. In short, FX.12 simplifies work for installers,” says Ing. Peter Kubička, the representative of PREFA in Slovakia. The futuristic look of the surface of this façade has been primarily achieved thanks to the effective irregular angles, which, depending on the angle of sunlight, create interesting effects on the façade and change its appearance. With FX.12 panels, the façade will always be different, never becoming boring, and will never go out of style.

Next is the Roof
The internal and external finishes of the villa in Borinka are complete. “The installation of the roofing, which will consist of small format folded PREFA tiles also in anthracite color P.10 covering an area of 230 m2, is still planned,” informs architect Kosnáč. Thus, small format products will be used on the roof, which is perfectly normal in Slovakia – it is used in nine out of ten renovations or new builds.
