The Czech Chamber of Architects has opened registration for the next year of the prestigious competition honoring exceptional architectural achievements in the Czech Republic. An international jury evaluates not only aesthetics and technical quality but also context and social contribution. The competition simultaneously promotes architecture throughout the regions all year round.
One of the new features of the 10th year of the prestigious Czech Architecture Award (ČCA), organized by the Czech Chamber of Architects, is a new design for the trophy awarded to the winners. Together with the Czech glass brand Bomma, renowned for its iconic lighting fixtures, an open competition has been announced for the design of the trophy. This competition is aimed at designers, architects, and students and emphasizes creativity, aesthetics, and a deeper connection between the world of design and architecture.
Competition proposals can be submitted to the email address design@bomma.cz no later than March 7, 2025. The best design will be selected by an expert jury made up of representatives from the Bomma brand, the Czech Chamber of Architects, and other renowned personalities from the fields of design and architecture. The winning design will be realized at Bomma’s glassworks and ceremoniously presented in November during the announcement of the results of the Czech Architecture Award.
“The connection of the Czech Architecture Award with the Bomma brand reflects the ongoing dynamism in both Czech architecture and the competition showcase of the Czech Architecture Award. Through this announced competition, we want to give space to a modern interpretation of the trophy, which each of the awardees can be appropriately proud of. With this project, we aim to celebrate not only the beauty of architecture but also that of Czech glass,” said the Chairman of the Czech Chamber of Architects, Jan Kasl.
“Design lighting and quality architecture influence and complement each other; one could not exist without the other. We have long been striving to support the local architectural and design scene, and this collaboration is a prime example of that.” says Aneta Hoffmannová, Marketing Director of Bomma.
