Railings made of AISI stainless steel are designed for concrete and prefabricated staircases, balconies, or balustrades. They can be used both indoors and outdoors. Moreover, they allow for a cohesive visual connection between both parts. They also offer great variability in the choice of individual components, such as types of posts, infill panels, or the selection of handrails.

The foundation of the railing consists of stainless steel posts, which can be anchored both from above and from the side of the staircase or balustrade. If glass infill is used, it is also possible to use anchorage into the lower rail or anchoring discs into the side cladding.

Material of the railing

The railing is made of high-quality stainless steel marked AISI 304 and 316, which withstand extreme conditions. "Stainless steel marked AISI 304 is an austenitic chrome-nickel steel resistant to water, water vapor, humidity, edible acids, and weak organic and inorganic acids. However, it is not suitable for use in aggressive environments, such as pools or near industrial facilities," explains Petr Paksi, sales director of J.A.P., a company that manufactures railings, and continues: "The second type of steel used for railing construction is stainless steel marked AISI 316. This is an austenitic chrome-nickel-molybdenum steel, which is also resistant to water, water vapor, humidity, edible acids, and weak organic and inorganic acids, but additionally, due to its increased molybdenum content, it is more resistant to corrosion." Both types of stainless steel are suitable for use both indoors and outdoors.

Types of posts

The individual posts of the railing are available in flat, round, or square designs. There is also a choice in their anchoring method - from above or from the side of the staircase or balustrade. In the case of top anchoring, the post has dimensions from 950 to 1000 mm. A post anchored from the side of the staircase reaches a height of 1150 to 1200 mm. The diameter of the round post is 42 mm, the square post is made of a stainless steel prism with a width of 40 mm, and the flat post consists of two stainless steel strips, each 40 mm wide, with a thickness of the strip itself being 8 mm.

Infill of the railing

The infill of the railing can be cable, rod, or today the most desired glass. "The cable infill creates an airy and simple impression, while the rod infill adds great variability to the railing. Rods with a diameter of 10 or 12 mm can be adjusted to a horizontal or vertical position. When choosing a glass infill for the railing, it is possible to achieve a highly designer solution, where all components are maximally simple and precise in every detail, so as not to disrupt the clean design of the glass," clarifies Petr Paksi. The glass infill itself is made of tempered glass, 12 or 16 mm thick, with an internal safety film, which is resistant to high temperatures and direct impact.

Possibility of additional installation

Stainless steel railings are also suitable for additional installation. "As for the complete appearance of the stainless steel railing, that is in the hands of the investor. They get to choose not only the type of post, infill, or method of anchoring the post to the staircase, but also, for example, the type of handrail or the size and shape of the anchoring base. The actual installation of the railing is not complicated for construction or installation companies," concludes Petr Paksi.
