Modular construction and FERMACELL fiber cement boards

The construction from container modules is no Cinderella in Europe and owes its success especially to the speed of construction, low impact on the surrounding area, and high variability. The collaboration of FERMACELL - Xella and the company FAGUS from Slušovice, which specializes in the construction of residential, administrative, and other buildings in the form of assembled sets from prepared modules, has already brought a number of very interesting installations.

Kindergartens
Currently, due to the "baby boom," there is a significant problem with the lack of places in kindergartens. However, there is a simple solution, which is the construction of "modular kindergartens."
In Germany, the Netherlands, and other countries, the Slušovice-based company FAGUS builds kindergartens based on modules, boasting "Kindergarten" facilities in Hamm, Karlsruhe, Neuss, or Pesterwitz or Radebeul near Dresden. The advantage of this solution lies in the speed of construction, but also in the fact that a building constructed using spatial modules can be easily disassembled and rebuilt in a new location. This is not a temporary solution but a fully functional building, meeting all applicable standards and requirements. With the use of modular kindergartens, as well as schools and student dormitories, this problem is commonly addressed west of our borders. A modular building can be constructed where there is a problem with space, and when this problem subsides, the building can be relocated to another place where the problem is current. Additionally, the time required for the realization of the construction from modules is no longer than one month, and modular kindergartens and schools have the added benefit of having the same mechanical properties as standard construction and, from the perspective of thermal insulation, are even better.

The fastest realized football stadium in Germany
The facilities of the SV Wehen – Wiesbaden football stadium, named the BRITA Arena, were realized using container modules from the Slušovice company FAGUS, which uses FERMACELL gypsum fiber boards for the interior cladding of its containers. The stands were made of a steel tubular structure, and the functional building was constructed from container modules. FAGUS CZ participated in this project by building the functional building including locker rooms, showers, VIP boxes, and also facilities for fans, such as ticket offices, refreshments, toilets, etc.

FERMACELL gypsum fiber boards in new office buildings of car manufacturer AUDI in Ingolstadt
The new administrative center of AUDI, realized by FAGUS on a total area of over 9500 m², is located directly next to the main building and the museum building of AUDI AG in Ingolstadt, Germany. The three-story buildings serve as flexible office and development spaces, allowing project leaders of the car manufacturer to provide their international teams with the necessary support in addressing specific tasks. The interior cladding, including load-bearing structures, was carried out using FERMACELL gypsum fiber boards as per the customer's request, and the flooring is also made of FERMACELL floor elements. Everything is in compositions of fire protection for the interior spaces F90. The outer load-bearing structure of the individual modules was completely covered with FERMACELL gypsum fiber boards, over which aluminum sheet facades were subsequently installed. All with the aim of achieving maximum harmony with the facade concept of the surrounding buildings in the AUDI complex.

Prefabricated residential modules also impressed European diplomats
The Dutch Ministry for Development Cooperation initiated the establishment of a Joint Donor Office (JDO), which coordinated international cooperation in the development of the Sudanese economy. The main reasons why the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs opted for modular construction in the implementation of the JDO project in South Sudan were cost and speed of execution from the order. Thanks to mutual cooperation with FAGUS, the entire administrative center, including ten houses for staff, was completed in record time.
