For several years now, modern housing has been dominated by a trend towards minimalism. Aesthetic purity and elegance are no longer the domain of just premium projects and are increasingly being applied in regular new builds and renovations. Evidence of this is the increasingly common installation of doors with Dorsis hidden frames.

Minimalism does not only mean having little furniture in the interior – it is an approach that leads to harmony among all interior elements based on modesty and elegance, for which hidden frame doors Dorsis are absolutely ideal. They allow the doors and frame to be aligned with the wall, which may sound like a detail, but in fact brings a completely new character to the interior.

Hidden Frame as a Design Element of the Interior

For many years, we were used to doors with frames that "framed" the doorway, which, together with the door recesses, practically dominated the entire space. In the best-case scenario, the frames were painted a color similar to the plaster, while in panel buildings, a contrasting color of the metal frame was often used.

"The essence of the success of Dorsis doors and frames is a paradox – their true quality is that the final product in the room is not visible. The frame and hinges are completely hidden in the wall, and only a thin gap is visible between the door and the wall," says Jan Krejčí, managing director of Dorsis. "The customer is left only to decide on the design of the door leaf itself. Don’t forget that hidden frames will help maintain the largest possible passage through the door space."

Dorsis Fortius 52 can be made with wood veneer, white or colored, with concrete plaster or even wallpapered; the goal is to let the door area blend in with the surrounding wall.

Every Interior Deserves a Customized Solution

Do you want doors that reach the ceiling? That's fine. Do you need hidden frames in attic rooms or separate the day and night zones of the apartment? Everything is possible. Hidden frame doors can be installed in brick houses, wooden buildings, and regular drywall partitions.

Why choose the Dorsis doors and frames concept?
  • It is a complete concept, not a standalone frame and door – this ensures long-term reliability and strength, so even larger doors do not deform or twist.
  • Doors can be up to 3500 mm high, meaning they can definitely reach the ceiling in most regular interiors, with or without a transom.
  • The design and sufficient thickness of the 52 mm doors allow for optional premium accessories, such as hidden self-closing devices, door stops, or electronic opening.
  • The entire construction is delivered assembled and equipped with protective elements for easy installation to avoid damage during finishing construction work.

The acoustic variant of Fortius Akustik doors looks exactly the same as the regular version, so it can be installed in any room in the interior.

You might also appreciate the special variants of the Dorsis concept – for example, the acoustic Fortius Akustik doors can reduce sound transmission by up to 37 decibels, which is useful in children's rooms and bedrooms, or in premium office and meeting rooms. Also unique are the frame-less security doors that allow you to benefit from the elegance of a hidden frame right at the entrance to the apartment or house.

Design in the Spotlight

Yes – choosing the right design and color of the doors is often more important to clients than the construction itself. In this respect, the Dorsis concept offers a wide range of options. It is the client's task to decide what role the doors should play in the interior – should the door surface completely blend with the wall, match the finish of the surrounding furniture, or dominate the entire space with a different color, wallpaper, or cladding?

The variability of the Dorsis concept is important. Doors can reach up to the ceiling, with a transom or sloping top, precisely tailored to the needs of the specific space.

Natural wood veneer on the doors represents an understandable classic – the color of high-quality natural veneer always brings a pleasant sense of homeliness to the interior. True harmony in the interior can be achieved by using the same veneer on the door leaf as on the furniture – the resulting effect is truly perfect.

Doors with hidden frames can completely fade into the background of a space; they can simply be made in the same finish as the surrounding wall, you are sure to find something from the RAL color chart. The doors can also be finished with plaster or even wallpapered – the result is a merging of the wall and the doors into one plane, with only the handle and a thin gap visible.

If you want to "plant" frame-less doors into a non-traditional space (wooden wall cladding, wallpaper, etc.), definitely choose the premium Dorsis Fortius solution – whether the doors are made of decorative or painted laminated boards or clad in ceramics or even stones, you will always be able to enhance the overall character of your apartment or house.

"The aesthetics of living are not influenced by individual elements separately, but by the overall harmony among them. Our hidden frame door concept does not demand dominance in the space; on the contrary - with its variability, it can harmonize the door spaces with the interior, downplay distracting elements, and support the overall character of the apartment or house," adds Jan Krejčí from Dorsis.
