Hager Manufaktura: designer switches for a denim clothing store

Although the current market offering for sockets and switches is quite extensive and includes less common shapes, colors, and materials, now and then a designer or architect comes up with an original request that calls for custom production — just like in the case of the Diesel denim clothing store in Germany.

Thanks to the custom program Hager Manufaktura, a unique interior accessory in the form of a switch covered with denim could be created for this store. “It was a fantastic idea! I hope something similar can be realized somewhere in the Czech Republic as well,” says Thomas Grund, the CEO of Hager's branch in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, adding: “Frames for switches and sockets covered with fabric offer a great deal of space for the expression of the individuality of the architect or investor. It is hard to imagine the entire possible range of materials, colors, and patterns of fabrics. It is an almost inexhaustible source of ideas.”

In addition to denim, tartan-patterned fabric or leather is often used as a covering material, which over time changes its appearance and "ages" along with the interior and its users. Its advantage lies mainly in the variability of processing — both natural variants with a natural texture and suede finishes are used for switch frames; in line with current social and ethical trends, genuine leather is giving way to vegan alternatives. Custom dyeing according to customer requests is standard, with popular colors today including gray or cobalt shades.

However, it’s not just fabric coverings that are encountered at Hager when fulfilling individual orders. Multiples frames, switches with printing or engraving, or those in unusual colors or made from specific materials are often requested. In the custom program Hager Manufaktura, they have already realized switches made from natural stone, precious metals, or metals with special surface treatments (patina, grinding).
