Galerie VI cordially invites you to the last lecture of the series Meeting with Ordinariness.

Our work operates in a fragile moment between the modernist suggestion that we are all the same and the definiteness of 21st-century individualism. Equally, we strive to create connections and communities through the inhabitation of our projects in all possible scales. Ideally, our projects feature multiple protagonists. We create communities, both small and large, situations of interactive everyday life that accumulate into stories and relationships. They connect us through both stoves and entire apartment buildings.

Sam Chermayeff is an architect, designer, and educator who creates projects worldwide. He is a founding partner and director of the architectural office June 14 Meyer-Grohbrügge & Chermayeff and Sam Chermayeff Office. These studios have offices in New York and Berlin and work on a wide scale of projects, from larger residential buildings with multiple apartments in Berlin to several small houses in New York, as well as furniture worldwide. He has taught at Columbia GSAAP, Münster School of Architecture, The Royal College of Art, Dessau Institute of Architecture, Cornell University, and Architectural Association.

Barbara Poláková was born in Bratislava. In 2018, she obtained her master's degree from FA ČVUT in Prague. Since 2021, she has been the director of the office June 14 Meyer-Grohbrügge & Chermayeff / Sam Chermayeff in Berlin. At SCO, she works on a wide scale of architectural projects, from the design of site-specific objects to large urban projects.
