Biography
Sam Chermayeff is an architect, designer, and educator who undertakes projects worldwide. He is a founding partner and director of the architectural firm June 14 Meyer-Grohbrügge & Chermayeff and Sam Chermayeff Office. These studios have offices in New York and Berlin and work on a wide range of projects, from larger residential buildings with multiple apartments in Berlin to several small houses in New York and furniture around the world. He has taught at Columbia GSAAP, Münster School of Architecture, The Royal College of Art, Dessau Institute of Architecture, Cornell University, and Architectural Association.
His partner is the German architect Johanna Meyer-Grohbrügge. His grandfather was the functionalist architect Serge Chermayeff (1900-1996), his father was graphic designer Ivan Chermayeff (1932-2017), and his uncle is architect Peter Chermayeff (*1936 London), who was a co-founder of the studio Chermayeff, Sollogub and Poole.
