Reflection of Architecture - Lecture Series at STU BA

The Institute of History and Theory of Architecture and Heritage Conservation invites you to a lecture within the series Reflections on Architecture.
The project “Reflections on Architecture” focuses on contemporary architecture. It continues the first year of a series of lectures held from September to December 2016 at the Faculty of Architecture of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, supported by public sources through the Arts Support Fund, during which selected Slovak architects were presented. The goal of the current cycle, which will take place from September to December 2017 again with the support of the Arts Support Fund, is to continue discussing contemporary Slovak architecture while enriching this discussion with an international dimension. In 2017, the project will aim to place current architectural discourse within broader social, historical, and geographical contexts. The project will present current trends in architecture through selected personalities, this time from the Czech environment. Selected architects will present their authorial approach, clarify the origins of their work, justify their formal preferences, and provide examples and inspirations for their creations. In addition to discussions, the project will further develop the format of short critical texts through which the audience responds to the presented author and their work. Presentations of architects will be recorded and archived. Gradually, material will be created that will serve as a record of contemporary architectural discussion and simultaneously be publicly accessible study material. Activities within the project are primarily aimed at students in architecture programs and architects, but they are also freely accessible to the public. In 2017, the following architects will gradually be presented: Jan Šépka, Ján Stempel, Martin Rajniš, Studio H3T Architects, Ondřej Chybík and Michal Krištof, Jitka Ressová, Zdeněk Fránek, Petr Pelčák, Mirko Baum, Roman Koucký, Michal Kuzemenský and Zdeněk Zavřel.
