A free presentation by musician, visual artist, and book publisher Vladimir 518, focusing on the relationship between work and long-term research of specific phenomena in contemporary urban space.
Vladimir 518, whose real name is Vladimír Brož (born 1978), is a musician and multimedia artist. He started as one of the most prominent figures in the Prague graffiti scene and has gradually engaged in, and continues to engage in, book illustration, graphic design, creating author comics, theatrical scenography, and visual art. He is a member of the cult rap group PSH and a founding member of the art collective SPAM, which focuses on audiovisual forms that combine digital art, lasers, and light. From 2011 to 2015, he, along with other Czech artists, realized the underground comic newspaper KIX. He is the main representative of the multi-genre publishing house Bigg Boss, which has been producing music and book projects since 2006, documenting contemporary urban subcultures, art, pop culture, and architecture, among other things. Among his most noteworthy book projects are the trilogy Tribes (2016, 2013, 2011), interviews about contemporary Czech art titled Obsessions (2015), and an extensive historical project reflecting Czech pre-revolutionary architecture called Architecture 58-89 (2022). He presents his visual work both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
