Vladimir 518: Cargo. Trans. Logistic.
The journey from Prague to Brno along the D1 highway lasted fourteen days. Music and visual artist Vladimir 518 engages with the excluded and exhausted landscape, its natural inhabitants, and himself through a solitary journey, photographs, and diary entries in the midst of asphalt, concrete, garbage, and noise, where regardless of speed and performance, no one will be a winner. He has prepared an extensive exhibition for Galerie Vzlet that combines the mediums of photography, text, and installation. Visually, he also processes the façade of the building, bringing an image experience from his difficult dystopian journey, a kind of nightmare of the future. Vladimir 518 noted in his diary: "I wake up at the edge of a pine forest, beneath me is a view into a shallow valley, but I am being crushed from behind by the never-ending noise of moving bodies and goods. It is a rapid flow of matter that cares about only one thing: dynamics and movement." The author thus moves through a landscape that actually no longer exists; his journey is not only a painful testament to how much we have believed in the values of numbers and the utopian idea of prosperity, but also a self-portrait of the real meaning in the integrity of the biosphere. Reflection on one's own value does not necessarily have to take place on pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela, but can well be found on the way to Brno.
