Richard Neutra

We cordially invite you to an exceptional lecture by Raymond Neutra at the Tugendhat Villa, which will take place during a special holiday period, specifically on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 7 PM.
Dr. Raymond Richard Neutra is the youngest son of architect Richard Neutra. He was born in 1939 in Los Angeles and studied medicine at universities in Ponom, Montreal, and Harvard. Until 2007, he worked as a physician. He is a recognized expert in the field of preventive medicine. Currently, he is helping to secure funding for the operation of the VDL Studio/Residences complex.
The topic of Raymond Neutra's lecture will be the complex “Neutra VDL Studio and Residences”, which was built in three phases (1932, 1940, and 1966) according to the design of his father, Richard Neutra. The VDL Studio buildings provided accommodation for three families and a small architectural office. Today, it houses the Institute of Environmental Design at California Polytechnic University, located in Ponom, east of Los Angeles. At one place, one can observe the continuous evolution of Neutra's work and his ability to utilize technology and nature to suit and serve all human activities. Architect Richard Neutra presented these visions right at this location and also through his publications and lectures.
The lecture will be in English and will not be interpreted.
The lecture will include a concert performance featuring short violin solos by Miloš Štědroně performed by young Brno violinist Tereza Marečková.
Admission is 100 CZK; students and seniors 50 CZK
Reservation for the lecture is required at tel: +420 515 511 015 or +420 515 511 017 or at e-mail (limited capacity of 70 persons).
Further lectures at the Tugendhat Villa are planned after the holidays.
