architects enter :: into :: the city // public space // architecture // Pardubice // offcity
-.-.-.-.-
The last lecture of this year's offcity_architekti series, which has presented mainly architects who actively engage with public space in their practice and are simultaneously "stars" of the Czech architectural scene, whose work can be compared in a broader European context.
Architect Roman Koucký and his office are among the most interesting figures in the Czech architectural scene; he designs, publishes, is the head of the Institute of Building Science at the Faculty of Architecture CTU, gives lectures, and collects awards. Some of his projects are known even beyond the borders of our republic. Roman Koucký's office works on assignments of all scales, urban design and spatial planning (urban plans for cities such as Teplice, the book Elementary Urbanism), public spaces (for example, Široká street in Chrudim), bridges (for example, Ústí nad Labem), renovations and reconstructions (for example, Fár's House in Slavonice), residential buildings (an apartment building in Šternberk), as well as interiors (West Bohemian Gallery in Plzeň).
Roman Koucký is a personality with clearly articulated positions and opinions that he can present and defend convincingly.
Organized by the Terra Madoda association in collaboration with Divadlo 29 as part of the OFFCITY 2010 project. This project is realized with the support of the statutory city of Pardubice and the Czech Architecture Foundation.
