Brno Work of Adolf Loos in the Light of Confiscation of "German" Property after 1945 Lectured by: Jana Kořínková (Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology)
The search for the fate of the confiscated property, which was taken from the family of Brno industrialist Viktor Bauer after the war based on Beneš's twelfth decree, has grown into an almost detective activity, revealing unexpected findings regarding the builder's collaboration with Adolf Loos, including the identification of a previously unknown realization by the architect in Hrušovany near Brno. However, it also raises questions related to anti-German sentiments of the First Republic and the post-war construction of national cultural identity, in which confiscated properties still hold an irreplaceable place.
