This year, the Plzeň association Pěstuj prostor has prepared a series of lectures and subsequent discussions for fans of architecture and public space. The spring block, conceived as a symbolic dialogue between two attitudes, poles, or professions, will be launched on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at 18:30 in the joinery of the creative zone DEPO2015 in Plzeň, featuring architect Jiří Zábran and developer Patrik Novák.
Who is a developer and what is their role in the development of a city? Does the developer consider the city's inhabitants and building users, or only profit? Under what conditions do new construction projects arise and what are the most common obstacles to their realization? What causes the often low standard of new residential projects? What is the collaboration between the developer and the architect like? What boundaries does an architect have when creating? And what developer projects are planned in Plzeň? These questions will serve as a springboard for both guests' presentations and the subsequent discussion.
The first speaker will be Jiří Zábran, founder of the studio Zábran Nová architekti, who will present the process and results of his collaboration with developers on construction in Plzeň and its surroundings. Patrik Novák, chairman of the supervisory board of BC Real, which is currently preparing several residential projects for Plzeň, will then share his perspective and experience as a developer with an architectural education.
Admission to the event is 40 CZK. The next lecture and discussion in the series Dialogy on architecture titled junior : matador will take place on Wednesday, May 18, 2015, at 18:30 in the café DEPO2015 in Plzeň.
Through a series of four lectures and discussions, the association Pěstuj prostor aims to support and develop the interest of the local professional and broader public in contemporary architecture and the built and landscape environment of the city. The series is organized by Plzeň architects Petr Klíma and Šárka Lorencová in collaboration with other members of the Pěstuj prostor association and with the support of Plzeň 2015, o. p. s., the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, and the city of Plzeň.
