The Basel-based studio Miller & Maranta is one of the leading ateliers of the current generation of Swiss architects. Its founders are architects Quintus Miller (*1961) and Paola Maranta (*1959). During their studies in architecture at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, in the studio of Fabio Reinhart and Miroslav Šik, both encountered the architecture shaped by Aldo Rossi. After various joint projects, they decided to establish their own studio in 1994. The works they gradually realized, such as the Volta school in Basel, the Färberplatz market in Aarau, the Schwarzpark residential building in Basel, the reconstruction and expansion of the Garbald villa in Castasegne, or the Old Hospice at Gotthardpasshöhe, have been published multiple times, awarded, and attracted attention on the international scene. Since 2013, they have invited Jean-Luc von Aarburg to their studio as a partner. Miller & Maranta's projects specifically respond to the given starting and local context, always in a contemporary architectural language.
