Monadnock

MONADNOCK is an architectural studio based in Rotterdam. It focuses on design, research, writing, and creating discussions in the fields of architecture, urbanism, interior design, and staging. Their work derives from the urban space of the city, through the buildings that form the streets to the scale of the interior.
They work around contemporary products, consciously engaging architecture in the cultural production of this generation. By exploring key themes such as contemporaneity and tradition, convention and banality, constructive logic and illusory representation.
MONADNOCK strives for architecture that combines beauty, efficiency, and the transfer of architectural knowledge.
MONADNOCK was founded in 2006 and is currently led by Job Floris and Sandor Naus. Both received their education as interior and furniture designers while studying at the Academy of Fine Arts St.Joosta in Breda (NL) and subsequently obtained a master's degree at the Academy of Architecture and Urbanism in Rotterdam and Tilburg (NL).
MONADNOCK has gained international recognition for creating bespoke buildings, including distinctive residential buildings and public structures. These include a beach pavilion on the Maas River in Rotterdam (NL), the enormous installation "Make No Little Plans," and Landmark - or observatory - for the municipality of Nieuw Bergen (NL). A new visitor center for Hoge Veluwe National Park (NL).
