The Cidlina Zone in Jičín will be designed by Rehwaldt Landscape Architects

Jičín – The project documentation for the construction of the Cidlina recreation area in Jičín will be created by the studio of the German company Rehwaldt Landscape Architects. The architects will prepare the documentation for zoning approval, for permits, and for construction for 3.23 million crowns including VAT. Everything should be completed by spring 2022. City hall spokesman Jan Jireš said this today. The idea of creating a recreation area around Cidlina is 20 years old.

Originally, the project for the zone was to be created by a group of architects Klára Novotná, Karel Novotný, Tereza Mirská, and Jiří Neuvirt, who won the landscape-architectural competition for the zone's design last year. However, due to disagreements over the price, the architects withdrew from the planned contract with the city this year. The city then approached the second-place firm, Rehwaldt Landscape Architects. The city hall signed a contract with them on Friday. In the Czech Republic, the firm has a contract for the transformation of Karlovo náměstí in Prague, for example.

The designers will first revise their proposal for the recreation area according to the new requirements of the public and the city. "Then comes the preparation of the documentation for the construction siting. Next, documentation for the building permit will be created, followed by documentation for the execution of the construction," the spokesman said. Subsequently, the city will be able to announce a competition for a company to build the zone. The project documentation should also provide an estimate of the costs for constructing the zone. According to the city hall, it will be in the tens of millions of crowns.

The zone, covering an area of 7.5 hectares, is to be created on currently unused land between the Nové Město housing estate and the Cidlina River, not far from industrial plants. The transformation of the area is expected to be gradual and will take several years. The location is particularly important for people from the Nové Město housing estate, where there are no parks or public greenery.

In the Cidlina zone, there should be a walking trail and a park, play areas and playgrounds for children and adults, a dog park, a pump track for cycling, several bridges and footbridges, relaxation areas, a skate park, an outdoor cinema, barbecue corners, a track for inline skating, and a hill for sledding.
