Jičín - The healthcare center in one of the last two buildings of the former barracks in Jičín will not be established. No one applied for the tender for the sale of the building, and the doctor who wanted to convert the building into doctor offices, a pharmacy, and housing did not submit an offer, said Deputy Mayor Petr Hamáček. The city wanted at least 4.5 million crowns for the building in the tender, which the interested parties considered too high. Conversely, the doctor's original offer of 2.5 million crowns for the purchase was deemed too low by the city. If any other interested party expresses interest in purchasing the building at the price requested by the city, they still have a chance, according to the city hall. In the past two years, the city hall has had most of the barracks' buildings demolished. Only two end buildings remain towards the center. The smaller of these has been offered for sale, while the neighboring larger building is currently reserved for the district court. The smaller building is now rented to several parties, such as local musicians and artists. The entire barracks complex covers an area of eight hectares. The city expects a new residential neighborhood to be created in the area. Originally, private investors were supposed to redevelop the barracks complex. However, neither of the two attempts to hand over the barracks to private individuals materialized, and in 2011 the city ultimately decided to continue with the revitalization itself.
