Brno - The South Moravian Region will build a new emergency medical service base in Hustopeče in the Břeclav region for almost 42 million crowns. Regional governor Bohumil Šimek (ANO) announced this to journalists today. According to him, the rescuers are using unsuitable spaces of a former boiler room in the hospital complex. The new facility will be built in place of the current garages. The work is expected to be completed in the first half of next year.
The regional council selected the company Stavební firma Plus from Hodonín to construct the building. They made the most economically advantageous offer of 41.8 million crowns including VAT. "The current emergency base in the former boiler room does not allow for the heating of vehicles. The used spaces, including the changing rooms, are inadequate and significantly limit the activities of the rescuers," said Šimek.
According to the regional spokesperson Monika Brindzáková, the foundation of the building will be a prefabricated reinforced concrete skeleton. On the first above-ground floor, there will be a station for one emergency medical service vehicle, one backup ambulance, a decontamination box for cleaning and disinfecting the vehicle after deployment, and storage rooms. The second above-ground floor will feature crew accommodation rooms, a day room, sanitary facilities, changing rooms, a station for the operations technician, and a data center. The third above-ground floor will contain the technical room for the air conditioning and the technical room for central heating.
Construction is expected to start in March and will last for 14 months. It should be completed by May next year. "This is a project that is part of loan financing from the European Investment Bank," Šimek noted. The region has arranged a loan of 700 million crowns from the bank and plans to use it in the coming years for investment projects such as the emergency bases, senior homes, or roads. The region intends to build additional bases in Kyjov or Boskovice.
