Karlovy Vary – The main part of the reconstruction of the swimming pool area has begun at the Thermal hotel in Karlovy Vary. The work is being carried out by Trigema, which is also involved in efforts to reduce the pool's energy consumption. The total volume of the contract for Trigema at the Thermal hotel is approximately 200 million koruna, informed the media representative of the company, Radek Polák, today.

The construction modifications related to insulation include, for example, the replacement of windows and doors, insulation of terraces and roofs, and the repair of metal structures, along with necessary construction and other related works. The costs for this part of the contract, which should be completed in the summer, amount to approximately 56 million koruna.

In addition to the above activities, Trigema is preparing construction modifications of the swimming pool complex at the Thermal hotel, which will have a total capacity of 552 people. As part of this contract, there will be a new annex for the air conditioning machinery room, and primarily the replacement of the pool basin of the outdoor pool, which will be divided into two parts. The bathing pool with regular pool water will measure 39 by 15 meters, while the second pool, sized ten by 15 meters, will only have spring water.

In the former restaurant areas on the second and third floors, there will be a sauna and wellness center for approximately 140 people. The new changing rooms will be shared between the pool and saunas. Additionally, there will be a children's wading pool with a maximum depth of 40 centimeters. The energy consumption for heating, heating of hot water, and pool water will largely be covered by the heat gained from spring water and waste heat from the saunas. The new walkways around the pool and children's wading pool have been designed based on the requirements of heritage care from non-slip ceramic tiles. The total costs for this part of the contract, which should be completed at the end of summer, will amount to 145 million koruna.

"We coordinate individual activities for the reconstruction of the hotel with heritage experts and other professionals. The result will be the renewal of the entire site, which, since it opened to the public, has become an icon of Karlovy Vary. This is one of the most prestigious contracts in the history of our company," stated Sales Director Radim Šponar.

The Thermal hotel was built in the second half of the 1970s based on the architectural design by Věra and Vladimír Machonin for the International Film Festival Karlovy Vary. The reconstruction, which began last year, is projected to cost about 580 million, with the state contributing 300 million through an investment in the hotel’s equity. An additional 148 million was successfully obtained for energy savings from the State Environmental Fund, and the remainder will be covered by a loan.
