Vysoké Mýto (Orlickoústecko) - Vysoké Mýto in the Orlickoústecko region is preparing a reconstruction of the covered swimming pool for this year. The general reconstruction will take place after 35 years of its existence. Martin Krejza (ODS), the deputy mayor, told ČTK this.

"The pool underwent partial reconstruction a few years ago; we converted the former caretaker's apartment into a wellness center. Now we are proceeding with a complete replacement of the engineering networks, changing the layout, and the pool will be reconstructed in both the underground and above-ground sections," said Krejza.

The pool is frequently visited by children from primary and nursery schools, and there are two swimming schools in the city. A rarity of the pool is the stainless steel lifting floor, which is used mainly during swimming lessons to help children reach the bottom. "We are rightly proud of the lifting floor; it is a unique feature," Krejza stated.

The city has requested an 18-million grant from the Ministry of Education. The total costs could thus amount to around 50 million crowns. "The scope of the project will change depending on the grant. If there is a grant, we will probably replace the pool basin. If not, we will defer it to the next phase," Krejza said.

By the end of January, the municipality will have completed the project documentation. The reconstruction is planned from April to October, after which the pool will reopen to the public. The construction modifications will involve the entrance hall with refreshments, and access will be equipped with a new ticketing system. The city is also planning to renovate the changing rooms, children's paddling pool, and small pool.
