Vyškov - The new ice rink in Vyškov already has a roof; construction is going according to plan. Builders and city officials still expect that skating could begin in November. The construction of the stadium started after the demolition of the old one, and the arched roof has now been erected over the building.
"It is a self-supporting steel arch structure that is interesting because it is only two millimeters thick. It is a special sheet metal that does not rust and has a 50-year warranty. It is also interesting that the entire outer shell is mounted within a few days," said Tomáš Halas from the company Zimní stadion Vyškov. The company is building the winter sports venue and will operate it for 15 years.
The original stadium was from the 1970s, built by people during the so-called Action Z. The decision to demolish it and build a new one was made by the councilors back in 2015, rejecting the option for reconstruction. The main reasons were that there was no construction documentation for the stadium and its structure no longer met current standards.
By the end of June, according to Halas, the outer shell of the hall is expected to be completed, and then insulation will begin. In July, the installation of the ice surface foundation and the start of technology installation are planned. "So far, no problems have occurred," Halas stated.
The mayor of Vyškov, Karel Goldemund (ČSSD), is also satisfied with the construction. "We are still about 14 days ahead of schedule, and I firmly believe, and I keep repeating it, that in November we can lace up our skates," he announced.
The city will pay nearly 138 million crowns for the stadium. About 127 million is for the construction itself. The rest includes interests, three bank guarantees, insurance, and more. Vyškov will repay the amount in six installments, with the first payment scheduled for the end of 2018.
