Vysoké Mýto (Orlickoústecko) - The entrance to Vysoké Mýto through the Prague Gate is now guarded by a statue of Přemysl Otakar II., the founder of the city. It was created with funds from a public collection, provided by around 250 donors, including politicians, companies, organizations, and municipalities. It was unveiled for the 750th anniversary of the founding of Vysoké Mýto. Three metal boxes were placed inside the statue. One contains soil from the place of the king's birth in Městec Králové and the site of his death near the village of Suché Kruty in Austria. "The other contains a piece of the coffin of Přemysl Otakar II. with his remains, the wood has absorbed parts of his body," said Augustin Andrle from the association Monument to the Founder of the City, which commissioned the statue. He did not disclose how the association managed to obtain the relic. The last box contains the founding charter of the association, a list of donors, photographs, and other documents. The author of the classic statue in armor is the Vysoké Mýto artistic blacksmith and artist Karel Bureš. He crafted it from forged iron plates riveted onto a hollow structure. The monarch is 2.5 meters tall, wearing a golden crown on his head, a helmet with a golden crown at his feet, and a sword secured around his waist, holding a document with a seal in his hand. The statue, weighing about 250 kilograms, stands on a stone pedestal. The artwork cost 1.15 million crowns, covered by the collection. An additional over one million crowns was required for the adjustment of the area in front of the Prague Gate and the pedestal, which was paid for by the Vysoké Mýto municipality.
