Czech Třebová - On Thursday, the assembly of trusses for the new roof of the sports hall in Czech Třebová will begin. The original roof of the new hall collapsed in January during a floorball match. The hall is intended for the Higher Vocational School and the Secondary Technical School. The police in July charged the designer of the roof structure and an independent structural engineer with general endangerment due to negligence.

"The contracting company has already delivered the trusses, and today preparations are being made for their placement; so-called beams are being secured onto it. The installation using two cranes will start on Thursday and is expected to last a week or 14 days," said the school director Jan Kovář to ČTK.

The roof collapsed on January 14, just a few days after the approval; there were 80 people in the hall at that time, and everyone managed to escape. The wooden truss structure with a truss frame was built by the company Cecolegno as a subcontractor for the general contractor, Profistav Litomyšl.

For the upcoming new roofing, glued trusses have been chosen, which will be six meters apart instead of the current three meters. At the same time, they will have a different profile, so the usable height of the hall will increase by 1.5 meters. According to the general director of Profistav Tomáš Zavřel, there will be 14 trusses.

The Pardubice region built the facility for 58 million crowns. The collapse of the structure damaged the flooring, lighting, electrical installations, and interior equipment, such as sound systems, air conditioning, and the special rubber surface that was on the floor during the floorball tournament. The damaged construction part was claimed by the region against the construction supplier, and the equipment should be replaced by insurance. Repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The company Cecolegno, which specializes in wooden structures, filed for insolvency on May 18, along with a proposal for bankruptcy declaration. The Municipal Court in Prague rejected the proposal, not considering further due to the failure to meet legal conditions. Currently, a third insolvency proposal has been submitted, and the court has not yet ruled on it.
