Česká Třebová - Almost a year after the roof collapse, today the sports hall in the area of the Higher Vocational School and Secondary Technical School in Česká Třebová will reopen. The structure collapsed last January 14 during a floorball match just days after its approval, and all 80 people managed to escape. The police proposed charging two men in connection with the collapse of the structure.
For the new roof structure, solid wooden trusses were chosen on the recommendation of independent structural engineers instead of the previous trusses. In addition, the general contractor Profistav Litomyšl had to carry out repairs on the flooring, lighting, electrical installation, sound system, and air conditioning.
The police recently concluded their investigation and proposed charging 66-year-old designer and a two-year-younger independent structural engineer with negligence. Both worked externally for the subcontracting company that provided the roofing. They face imprisonment from two to eight years or a monetary penalty.
The Pardubice Region had the facility built for 58 million crowns. The total damage reached approximately 20.5 million crowns.
