Kobylí - A unique staircase-free lookout tower named Stezka nad vinohrady was opened today in Kobylí on Břeclav region as part of local celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. It is a circular ramp with an arc of 334 degrees, so from a bird's eye view, it looks like an incomplete circle. It stands on the highest hill of the surrounding area, which is Kobylí Hill at 334 meters above sea level, stated Simona Vojtěšková in a press release on behalf of the architects. With exceptionally good visibility, the peaks of the Alps can also be seen.
"The inspiration for the creation of Stezka nad vinohrady was precisely the given location. The lookout tower sensitively rises above the beautiful wine-growing region. The circle also represents the life cycle of nature and symbolically refers to the growth of the village of Kobylí," explains one of the architects, Jiří Vojtěšek. He collaborated with Jakub Roleček, and both share the studio Keeo4design.
Because the lookout tower is accessed like a ramp, it can be used by parents with strollers or people in wheelchairs. The highest point is nearly eight meters above the ground. With normal visibility, one can see Pálava, the Lednice-Valtice area, the Little Carpathians, and the nearby Blue Mountains covered with vineyards.
Not only the view but also the journey upward is the purpose of Stezka nad vinohrady. The lookout tower includes an information system that presents a spatiotemporal line. Here people can find typical signs with arrows pointing to important places in the vicinity, as well as information about future and historical events of the village or philosophical questions concerning the visitors themselves. The structure of the lookout tower is made of steel and wood.
In the nearby area, there are additional lookout towers. The closest one is at Kraví Hora near Bořetice, a little further on the summit of Slunečná above Velké Pavlovice. Near Zaječí, there are two lookout towers, Maják and Dalibor, to the east of Kobylí is Vyšicko above Mutěnice, and northwest is Nedánov near Boleradice.
