Prague - Today marks the two-year anniversary of the reopening of the National Technical Museum in Prague after a five-year renovation. During this time, it has welcomed over half a million visitors in its new exhibitions. The jubilee visitor toured the museum on January 10.

    According to museum spokesperson Adam Dušek, more exhibitions will open this year. "Primarily the long-awaited Mining exhibition with a unique coal and ore mine in the basement of the building, as well as the exhibitions on Metallurgy, Chemistry, Time, and the second part of the Photo Studio. We will make an exhibition available commemorating the 60th anniversary of Czech Television before the summer," Dušek told ČTK.
    The museum's biggest attraction is the renewed Transport Hall. Visitors can also explore newly installed exhibitions on Printing and Polygrophy, Astronomy, Architecture, Construction and Design, and the Photography Studio. In the fall of 2011, the sixth model hall featuring the Merkur playground was opened, and a year later, the seventh exhibition titled Technology in the Household.
    Among the temporary exhibitions, visitors can admire exhibits documenting 150 years of the Czech Industrial Museum, small gems of Czech architecture, the residence of Otto Petschka, and the exhibitions Czech Grand Design 2012, Three Centuries of Proposals for the Reconstruction of the Bečov Castle, or Transformations of Views on Historical Architecture, and 90 Years of Czech Technical Standardization.
    The National Technical Museum also collaborated with the National Museum on the exhibition Inventors and Inventions and participated in another ten exhibitions, including one on motorcycles at Kámen Castle, artistic cast iron in Komárov near Hořovice, the Museum of František Křižík in Plánice, and the legacy of architect and patron Josef Hlávka at the castle in Lužany.
