Prague/Soul - South Korean companies could participate in the construction of a high-speed railway from the center of Prague to Václav Havel Airport. This was stated by Czech Minister of Transport Daniel Ťok (for ANO) after negotiations with his counterpart So Sung-hwan, who accompanies Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka on a four-day visit to South Korea. "I called on my South Korean colleagues to apply for the planned tender for the construction of the railway to Prague airport. We are interested in finally completing the connection that will allow reaching the airport from the center in less than twenty minutes," the minister stated. He reportedly also discussed with his counterpart the experiences that Koreans have with the so-called "smart card" for transportation. In South Korea, one card works for the metro, buses, railways, taxis, and toll payments throughout the country. The conversation between the transport ministers also included the possibilities of utilizing the experiences of South Korean companies in the modernization of the railway network or the construction of roads in the Czech Republic. Ťok is the only minister in the government delegation accompanying Prime Minister Sobotka on the trip to South Korea. According to the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, the aim of the visit to this Asian country is primarily to strengthen economic cooperation, which could help attract new investments and create new jobs.
