Tišnov – Tišnov in the Brno region is building a funeral hall for 80 guests with a garden and a green roof. Its construction will cost 38 million crowns and it should be completed in the second half of next year, said the deputy mayor of Tišnov, Karel Souček (ODS), to ČTK.

"Tišnov currently has no own space designated for final farewells. For funerals, people either use the funeral hall in Veverská Bítýška or travel to the Central Cemetery in Brno, and a farewell in a church is also an option. We have known for a while that there is a lack of a funeral hall in Tišnov,” added Souček.

The building, which is being created based on a design by the Brno architect Pavel Jura, began last autumn and will be completed in the middle of next year. "The work on the concrete skeleton is now being completed, so that the building can be winterized," the deputy mayor added.

The building will have a green roof, for the construction of which the city received a grant from the European Union. It will have an area of 302 square meters and its goal is to retain rainwater and thus reduce the burden on the sewer system during heavy rainfall, improve the microclimate of the building, contribute to the retention of missing water in the landscape, and aesthetically integrate the building into the surrounding nature.

Upon completion, the building will include a funeral hall with a catafalque, facilities for the bereaved, and operational facilities. The space will connect to a small funeral garden, in which the city plans to establish a columbarium.
