The Building of the Year for the Central Bohemian Region is the Amos Primary School in Psáry

Prague - Amos Primary School in Psáry near Prague has won the main prize in the Building of the Year competition for the Central Bohemian Region 2020. The governor's award for the greatest contribution to the region, as well as the award for the reconstruction of a listed building, goes to the restoration of the pilgrimage area in Stará Boleslav near Prague, the organizers of the competition informed ČTK today.

The recently opened school in Psáry, accommodating 540 students, is a passive house, which has a very low energy consumption for heating. According to Mayor Milan Vácha (for STAN), this is the first such large passive school in the country. The construction cost 420 million crowns, most of which was covered by a grant from the investment program for expanding school capacities in the Prague area.

The expert jury also awarded other honors. The governor's award for personality in architecture and construction was given to expert on concrete bridges and prestressed concrete Jan Vítek. The author of several innovative solutions, who has also participated in significant transportation projects in Central Bohemia, will celebrate his 95th birthday this year.

The public award went to the Sedlčany Community Center. The reconstruction of a hotel in Senohraby was awarded for the investment plan, the long-term development concept of the municipality was recognized for the Řevnice Brewery, and the architectural solution of the fire station in Líbeznice was acknowledged. Awards were also given to the primary and nursery school in Třebotov for capacity expansion or the reconstruction of a kindergarten in Suchomasty.
