Brno - The Building of the Year for the South Moravian Region for last year is, for example, the archeopark in Pavlov or the residential area Campus in Brno. In the 15th edition of the competition announced by the South Moravian Union of Entrepreneurs in Construction, a total of 39 buildings were registered in seven categories. This was announced to journalists today at the construction fairs in Brno by representatives of the Union. "Traditionally, the category of civic amenities was the most represented, followed by water management and ecological buildings, or transport and engineering buildings," said the regional manager of the union, Zdeněk Kotol.
Among the civic amenities, two projects stood out - besides the archeopark, the building of the Central European Institute of Technology CEITEC in Brno. The archeopark in Pavlov modernly presents the life and culture of mammoth hunters. Last year, it was visited by 45,000 people.
From residential buildings, the jury was most impressed by the Campus residential area in Brno-Bohunice, which is gradually expanding. From industrial buildings, it is the administrative and production facility of PYROTEK in Blansko; from transport buildings, it is the reconstruction of the bridge on the Hohenau - Přerov line.
The renovation of the Brno waterworks building in Pisárky and the construction of a sewerage system and wastewater treatment plant in Šaratice, Zbýšov, and Hostěrádky - Rešov were also recognized.
Among the projects outside the territory of the Czech Republic, in which South Moravian construction companies participated, the securing of the walls of the fortress of the castle in Holíč, Slovakia, won. The project was entered into the competition by the company Ekostavby Brno.
