Pardubice - The renovated park, energy-efficient school, or modern company center in the former cold storage facilities have become the buildings of the year in the Pardubice region. This was announced by Zuzana Nováková from the Pardubice regional authority. The results of the competition were announced after two years. The winner of the online voting for the public prize was the lookout tower Mariánka in Horní Čermná in the Orlickoústecko region. The expert jury selected from 23 buildings included in five categories. The most registered objects, eight, were in the category of engineering and transport constructions and public spaces. The park Na Špici in Pardubice won in this category, which was renovated with the assistance of EU subsidies for 36 million crowns. In addition to greenery and pathway modifications, it acquired a pavilion with social facilities, a terrace, clubhouse, and grill, as well as outdoor gyms and a children's playground. A footbridge over the Chrudimka river was also constructed, along with a path along the river, which connects the park with Tyršovy sady and the Pardubice Castle. In the category of civic amenities, a new basic art school won, with the investor being the city of Holice. The building was designed as energy-passive, meaning it meets strict energy-saving criteria. Among the buildings in industry, agriculture, and water management, the technological center of the company Soma Globe in Lanškroun won. Architect Přemysl Kokeš and his team managed to create a modern building from the former cold storages, using lightweight steel constructions, epoxy floors, and polished sheet metal. The award in the category of Restoration of Real Estate Cultural Monuments was given for the revitalization of the historic building of the Regional Museum by architect Josef Pleskot. In the category of family and apartment houses, the jury favored a house in the village of Sobětuchy - Vrcha in the Chrudim region, designed by architect Karel Thér. Special recognition was awarded for the project of the restoration of road II/357 near Nové Hrady for its successful integration with the protected landscape area, with an interesting element being the use of wood on the outer parts of the guardrails. Another special recognition was awarded to the restoration of 11 historical objects in the extensive and costly project Zámecké návrší in Litomyšl.
