Pasohlávky - The construction of a spa complex in Pasohlávky near Brno, estimated to cost two billion crowns, has received a zoning decision. The mayor of Pasohlávky, Martina Dominová (from the Moravian party), informed ČTK about this today. The Chinese company RiseSun has been planning the construction of the spa for several years and, according to Dominová, is currently working on documentation for the building permit. In addition, the region wants to build the Pálava rehabilitation sanatorium near the spa, estimated to cost around a billion; according to the deputy governor Jan Zámečník (KDU-ČSL), it should offer over 160 beds.

Czech Television highlighted the issuance of the decision. The zoning decision was issued by the building authority in Pohořelice, which is the administrative body for Pasohlávky. "The zoning decision is the first stage. The company is now working on the next stage, which is more detailed documentation for the issuance of a building permit. Then the company can submit an application for the building permit," stated Dominová. According to her, the processing of the documentation may take up to a year.

According to Zámečník, the Chinese are meeting their deadlines. The Chinese investor selected an architectural design back in 2020. The first phase of construction was originally scheduled to begin at the end of last year. It was supposed to be followed by two more phases, with the entire project expected to be completed by 2026 at the latest. However, due to the COVID pandemic, everything has been delayed by a year, so completion is now planned for 2027.

The establishment of the Chinese spa was first addressed under Governor Michal Hašek (ČSSD), and it continued under the previous governor Bohumil Šimek (ANO) and is still ongoing under the current governor Jan Grolich (KDU-ČSL). The company Thermal Pasohlávky, which was owned by the region and the municipality of Pasohlávky, sold part of the land for the spa's construction to the Chinese, intending to finance the construction of the Sanatorium from the proceeds. The region also approved buying a one-third stake in Thermal from Pasohlávky to become the sole owner. The construction of the sanatorium is expected to be one of the larger investments that the region plans to initiate next year. The issue will be discussed by the representatives in December, Zámečník stated. The region aims to secure funding for the construction from the National Recovery Plan. Due to the rising costs of building materials, the original estimate of about half a billion has grown to a billion crowns over time.
