Načeradec - After eight unsuccessful auctions, the state is once again offering the castle in Načeradec in the Benešov region for sale. The minimum price has been reduced to 12 million crowns, and the ninth auction will take place on October 23 in Benešov. The Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters informed about this on its website.
During the last attempt to sell the monument on September 10, the lowest bid was 13.5 million crowns, but no offers were received. Previous auctions had similar outcomes. The state originally asked for at least 22 million crowns for the castle. In further attempts to sell, the price was gradually reduced. The castle was taken into state ownership two years ago from the children's home in Sedlec-Prčice as unnecessary property. No state institution has shown interest in it, which is why it is being offered for sale.
The multi-story building with a simple façade and the adjacent English park are immovable cultural monuments located in the center of the town. The park adjoins a fruit orchard and a former vegetable garden and horticulture with preserved greenhouses, as well as a staff house, where the interior spaces have been partially reconstructed.
Despite not being used since 2015, the castle is still considered to be in relatively good condition according to the office. In 1987, craftsmen repaired the roof, interior spaces, engineering networks, and façade. In 2000, the boiler room, heating, and air conditioning were reconstructed.
The castle was built in 1734 by Franz Joseph of Starhemberg. Until the end of the 1970s, the complex served as a children's home, after which an internat school was established there, and later a reformatory.
