Prague - The construction manager proposed to the Technical Administration of Roads (TSK) a deadline for the completion of this year's repairs on the Barrandov Bridge in Prague by October 10. However, this deadline is not definitive, and both parties are still in negotiations. This was stated by TSK spokesperson Barbora Lišková after today's meeting between TSK, the construction manager, and the construction company Porr. The reconstruction began on May 16 of this year. Originally, the work was supposed to be completed by September 2. Due to necessary project adjustments, the completion was pushed back by 27 days to September 29, and this is now the second postponement of the deadline.
"The construction manager, after reviewing all the documents, proposed a deadline for the completion of construction work that restricts traffic on the Barrandov Bridge, set for October 10, 2022. This deadline takes into account so-called physical and other unforeseen circumstances on the construction site. TSK sees room for improvement even in this deadline and will further negotiate with the construction manager about shortening it," said Lišková.
The final deadline should be known in the coming days, when the builder will express his opinion, followed by a binding decision from the construction manager, which is a consortium of companies led by IDS, Contract Management, and VIS. The construction manager also acts as a mediator between TSK and the construction company. If this deadline is not met, TSK will impose penalties based on the terms of the contract.
The Barrandov Bridge, built in 1983, is part of the city ring road and has never been repaired before. It is crossed by over 140,000 cars daily, making it the busiest road in Prague. The reconstruction is spread over several years and will only last for part of the year each time. The total cost of the work over the entire period will be 594.5 million crowns.
