The sports hall in Kolín will be built by Strabag for 97 million crowns

Kolín - The new sports hall in Kolín, located in the Borky district, will be built by the company Strabag. In the tender, they offered to construct the facility for just under 97 million crowns. The construction will begin by spring at the latest, and it will be completed in 1.5 years, said the mayor of Kolín, Michael Kašpar (STAN), to ČTK today.

On Friday, the city signed a contract with the company. "A coordination meeting will take place in the next 14 days with the participation of the city architect and designers, where a work schedule will be established," said Kašpar. The designers had anticipated that the cost of the hall would reach 100 million crowns.

The new sports hall will be single-story, and the design came from an architectural competition. The hall will feature a field measuring 40 by 25 meters, suitable for handball or floorball. In addition to the field, there will also be benches, a grandstand, facilities for athletes, and a clubroom. Strabag will also build a parking lot with more than 80 spaces, expand the access road, and ensure the planting of greenery.

The construction will be divided into four phases. The city plans to set strict penalties in the contract; the construction company will be penalized for delays in individual phases, not just for delays in the entire project. The city also established strict conditions in the tender. Interested parties for the contract had to provide specific references and experience with similar-sized projects.

According to Kašpar, the new hall will be low-energy, with annual energy costs expected to drop by about half; the city should pay approximately 250,000 crowns per year for energy in the hall instead of the previously estimated nearly 500,000 crowns.

Kolín has applied for a European grant from the operational program for the environment, which could provide up to 40 million crowns. The application is still under review.

The idea of building a sports hall for floorball, handball, futsal, and volleyball came from athletes who do not have facilities in Kolín and have to travel outside the city for home matches.
