Slaný – Slaný in the Kladno region continues to prepare for the construction of a sports hall in the Slaný Sever area, which will cost over 70 million crowns. The city lacks a hall with the necessary parameters for hosting higher-level competitions. Construction could begin in the autumn, said Slaný mayor Martin Hrabánek (ODS) to ČTK today.

"We have issued a zoning decision, which is a preliminary stage for the building permit," the mayor stated. According to him, the final decision on starting construction will be discussed by councilors in April. It is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

The building will be low-energy, meaning that its operating costs, including heating, should be lower compared to standard buildings. Therefore, the city will also apply for a European grant, which is designated for energy-efficient constructions and could cover around 25 million crowns of the costs.

The new hall will enable the organization of official sports competitions at the highest national level, for example, for floorball, futsal, or basketball. The current BIOS sports hall lacks not only the necessary parameters but also adequate facilities. It will continue to be used by schools and recreational athletes.
