Slaný (Kladensko) - Slaný plans to build a new sports hall as the current one lacks capacity and does not meet the criteria for certain sports. The city will apply for a grant, with the start of construction depending on the allocation of 27 million crowns. In an optimistic scenario, it could be next year. Milan Grohmann, the deputy mayor of Slaný, stated this to ČTK. The city will begin preparing the project for the hall. "The more prepared the project is, the higher the chance of obtaining the grant," the deputy mayor said. According to him, there are many interested parties for the new hall, and it should have good occupancy. The existing sports hall in Slaný is located in the city center, where, among other things, there are parking problems, and it is not sufficient to meet the demand of sports clubs as well as groups of amateur athletes. The multifunctional hall is to be built near the Slaný athletic complex. For the city, according to the deputy mayor, it would mean that it would not have to hire additional staff for its operation. The new hall should also have lower operating costs because it is expected to be energy-efficient. Although, according to the deputy mayor, the city would still have to subsidize its operation, it should not involve high amounts. The hall is also expected to have a stand for 200 spectators and meet the official parameters for most indoor sports. After the completion of the new hall, the older hall should function as a school gym for nearby high schools. Outside of class hours, it should serve all residents of Slaný.
