Prague - The list of national cultural monuments (NKP) could be expanded by 25 new items. Currently, there are a total of 272 properties, both immovable and movable monuments, on the list with the highest possible level of heritage protection. The proposal that the government will discuss on Wednesday includes many monuments of industrial architecture, mines, navigation canals, and mills. Among the proposals are also two churches and two castles.

National cultural monuments are established by government decree. From the proposed set, 11 cultural monuments are privately owned, seven are owned by regions and municipalities, two are in church ownership, three are state-owned, and two monuments have combined ownership.
Also private is the monumental Baroque castle Týnec near Klatovy, which has been under renovation for 15 years by art collector Jan Pelánek. The castle was built between 1704 and 1710 and is among the first examples of high Baroque residence in Bohemia. The author of the building was Giovanni Battista Alliprandi, who also designed the Lobkovický and Šternberský palaces in Hradčany and was a student of the Viennese architect Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. In scale and urban concept, the castle stands out from the Czech average and represents one of the first successful attempts to integrate a high Baroque castle structure into the landscape.
There are no monuments on the list of proposals in Prague; however, it has the highest number of national cultural monuments recorded - 46. The South Bohemian Region currently has 33 NKP, which should increase by four - in addition to the watermill in Penikově and the Bechyň Bridge, there is also part of the set of navigation canals in Šumava. The Schwarzenberg Canal and Kaplický stream are located in the South Bohemian Region, while the Vchynicko-Tetovský Canal is in the Plzeň Region. "The navigation canals, due to their sensitive execution, demonstrate a high level and sophistication of human interventions in the natural environment of the mountain landscape of Šumava," the proposers write.
Four NKP should be added in the South Moravian Region, which is rich in these most protected monuments, having 29 of them. The ironworks Stará huť was built around 1746 and is the oldest preserved blast furnace of Belgian type in Central Europe. NKP is to become the vineyard house in Pavlov from the last third of the 17th century, the village bell tower in Louka, which represents the small sacred buildings characteristic of Moravian villages, and the farmhouse in Kučerov with a preserved gable, that is, a massive risalit protruding from the facade of the house.
