The list of national cultural monuments may be expanded by 19 buildings

Prague - The list of national cultural monuments (NKP) could be expanded by 19 sacred buildings and complexes. Among them is the pilgrimage site with the Church of the Virgin Mary Victorious on Bílá Hora in Prague, the pilgrimage site in Svatý Jan pod Skalou, Mariánská Týnice in the Plzeň region, Svatý kopeček near Mikulov, or Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc. The proposal from the Ministry of Culture to declare these buildings as monuments enjoying the highest possible state protection will be addressed by the government in resignation on Wednesday.

This follows from a document prepared for the government's meeting, which ČTK has available. The list of national cultural monuments was last expanded a year ago when it added 15 items. Before any potential approval of the most recent proposal, the list currently comprises 336 entries of both immovable and movable monuments, according to the Heritage Catalog maintained by the National Heritage Institute.

NKP constitutes the most significant part of the cultural wealth of the country, and it is subject to stricter protection than cultural monuments, of which there are also many more. Similar to cultural monuments, the export of NKP, both permanent and temporary, as well as their sale, is regulated by law.

During the last approval process for NKP, several items from the prepared list were withdrawn, such as the pilgrimage site with the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Loreto Chapel in Římov in the České Budějovice region; its registration will be reassessed by the government now. Last year, the government postponed the proposal to declare the railway station in Pardubice due to planned reconstruction of the building. If the government now declares the proposed objects as national cultural monuments, they will become so as of July 1.

The Ministry of Culture, which prepares the list of proposals, focuses on a specific type of monument with each wave. This time, it selected exclusively sacred buildings, or more precisely complexes or sites. In addition to those mentioned, there are also two pilgrimage sites in the Liberec region (in Horní Police and Hejnice), a pilgrimage site with the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Bohosudov in the Ústí region, Chlum Svaté Maří with the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Mary Magdalene in the Sokolov region, or Svatý Hostýn in the Kroměříž region.

The list of 19 cultural monuments that the Ministry of Culture proposes to the government to declare as national cultural monuments:

- pilgrimage site with the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary with the rectory and bell tower in Horní Police (church, ambulatory, rectory, bell tower, tower with gate, monument to Wenzel Hocke, and other immovable cultural monuments)

- pilgrimage site with the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Hejnice (church, ambulatory, terrace wall, Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua, column with a statue of the Virgin Mary, wall with statues of saints, and fountain)

Ústí Region

- pilgrimage site with the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Bohosudov (church, ambulatory, chapel with a spring, and other immovable cultural monuments)

Karlovy Vary Region

- pilgrimage site Chlum Svaté Maří with the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Mary Magdalene (church, ambulatory, provostry, rectory, and other immovable cultural monuments)

Plzeň Region

- pilgrimage site Mariánská Týnice with the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary (church, ambulatory, provostry, and other immovable cultural monuments)

- pilgrimage site with the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Loreto Chapel in Římov (church, ambulatory, Loreto chapel, bell tower, 25 Stations of the Cross with internal movable furnishings of passion chapels recorded in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic, and other immovable cultural monuments)

Pardubice Region

- pilgrimage site Hora Matky Boží near Králíky (Dolní Hedeč) with the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (church, ambulatory, convent, eight passion chapels of the Stations of the Cross, two of which are part of the entrance staircase with a gate, and other immovable cultural monuments)
