The Rožnov representatives approved the documentation for the Cultural Center

Rožnov pod Radhoštěm – The representatives of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in Vsetín today approved the project documentation for the Cultural Center. The project is expected to cost 215 million crowns, and the price may change through competition. The city could start selecting a contractor in February next year, construction could begin in June, and it should take 14 months.

According to the project, the center was originally supposed to cost 224 million crowns, but savings have reduced the price to 215 million crowns. The savings, according to Mayor Radim Holiš (ANO), relate to equipment, such as theatrical technologies and lighting. According to a previous decision by the representatives, the center was to cost up to 175 million crowns. The price has also been increased due to higher construction costs. According to the city leadership, 215 million will be the ceiling, with companies offering higher prices being excluded from the competition.

Some opposition representatives believe that the project is very expensive. "I am concerned that this project will lead us to a point where we won't have money for things that people use, sidewalks, bike paths," stated representative Jaromír Koryčanský (KDU-ČSL).

Rožnov is expected to receive a grant for the passive standard of the building amounting to 53 million crowns. The city intends to take out an investment loan of 127 million crowns, of which 60 million crowns is a loan for co-financing the construction of the cultural center and the extension of the library, and 67 million crowns is for pre-financing grants for both projects.
