Rožnov pod Radhoštěm - The town hall in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín region has not selected a contractor for the construction of a cultural center. Three companies expressed interest in the public contract, but none of the registered firms met the essential requirement, which was a maximum estimated price of 170 million crowns excluding VAT, said today the spokesperson of the Rožnov town hall, Petra Graclíková.
"The lowest price offered by the companies for the implementation was 48 percent higher than the amount we have budgeted. Specifically, it was 249 million excluding VAT, which is an unacceptable figure for us," stated Mayor Radim Holiš (ANO).
The working team is currently analyzing the offers and specific amounts that differ from the predicted budget. "In this case, we have experienced that all risks from this complicated period have been transferred by the companies into their offers. The increase in the euro, the rising costs of construction materials, or the closure of borders, which also reduced the workforce, certainly played a role. Additionally, there is the risk of a subsequent second wave of the pandemic," the mayor added.
A new public contract will probably be announced this autumn. "We have confirmed funding until 2022, so we still have enough time to select a suitable contractor again and complete the construction within one and a half years from the selection," said Holiš.
The planned cultural center consists of a large hall, an indoor atrium, and a small hall. The city has obtained a fifty-million-euro European grant for the construction.
