Rožnov pod Radhoštěm - Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín region has completed the reconstruction and extension of the municipal library. The moving of books from the Community Center to the new premises has begun, spokesperson of the Rožnov town hall Petra Graclíková announced to ČTK today. The library is expected to open in late September or early October.
"The new form of the library will offer readers a community space, barrier-free access, extended opening hours, and a hall for 80 people, where discussions and lectures will take place. Readers will also find a café, a children's department, a new releases section, a music section, a department for young people and adults, and a study room," said the spokesperson.
The reconstruction began last April, and last week the city took over the completed building. "Currently, work is being done to eliminate defects and finishing touches. At the same time, the transfer of all books from the Community Center, where the library temporarily operated during the reconstruction of the existing building, is taking place these days," the spokesperson stated. In the fall, the addition of greenery around the building is still planned.
"The library we remembered until now is already history. The existing building has a renovated façade and the interior spaces have undergone a significant transformation. A opening has been created between the first and second floors that beautifully connects both levels. An elevator has also been built to offer barrier-free access for individuals who may have limited mobility. The new extension also offers a hall, which will provide opportunities not only for discussions that were commonly held, but I believe that the library will be able to expand its range of events for the public," said Deputy Mayor Markéta Blinková (ODS).
The costs of the reconstruction and extension of the library were 95 million crowns, of which nearly 68 million were covered by grants.
